1907-1923, black patina bronze, C. Valsuani foundry Pescheteau-Badin-Godeau-Leroy group, Drouot-Paris. A very strong bid for this much expressive bronze by Troubetskoy who studied sculpture with Ernesto Bazzaro in Milan. Much inspired by Auguste Rodin, he tried to instil an Impressionist touch in his works and produced many works representing famous people such as Czar Alexandre III or General Cardona. He was awarded a Grand prize at the 1900 Exhibition in Paris and also showed his sculptures at the Salon d'Automne there in 1904. Troubetskoy went on to exhibit his works in New York, Toledo, Chicago, Washington, Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Rome, Venice, Berlin, Dresden and London. |
