Sotheby's New York. This exquisite painting produced in 1804 carried an estimate of between US $ 90,000 and 120,000. It relates to another work exhibited in the Paris Salon of 1804 along with apendant picture entitled La Mauvaise Nouvelle (bad news). Marguerite Gérard was the pupil of Fragonard and also his sister-in-law through his wife. She was the favourite aide of the artist and produced some charming works also under the influence of David.
