Arnauné-Prim group, Toulouse, South-West France. A strong bid for a famous piece by Carpeaux who produced such theme while in Rome. This type of sculpture, inspired by the works of Francisque Duret and François Rude, was exhibited in 1858 at the School of Beaux-Arts in Paris. Rude and Duret exhibited their works showing Napolitan fishermen in 1833 at the Paris Salon. These earned them fame and Carpeaux felt obliged to deal with such theme 25 years later producing a fresh looking boy meeting success in turn during the Universal Exhibition of 1867.
