old cast, green and brown patina, Barbedienne foundry with rectangular gold seal “F.B” mark, with number 43 beneath the base
Delavenne group, Drouot-Paris. A smashing bid for this cast due to the fact that it bears the Barbedienne foundry gold mark used between 1877 and 1889 and intended for the best models. This bronze work, which carried a pre-sale estimate of only 120,000 FF, was considered as one of Barye's main masterpieces.
