Christie's London. Miniatures showing children are much sought by amateurs. This one only carried a pre-sale estimate of £3,000-5,000 but was exquisite enough to fetch such a price. Most surprising in this sale was the £ 25,850 ($ 39,245) bid recorded for the portrait of a lady called lady Whitbread, oval 78 mm, which carried a pre-sale estimate of 3,000 to 5,000. This one was probably one of Plimer's masterpieces;
