Pescheteau Group, Drouot-Paris. A very strong bid for this painting by Storck who was a noted specialist of navy scenes. He notably painted many naval battles and port scenes in Holland as well as views of Amsterdam. Such scene, representing a capriccio view of Venice was painted out of sheer fantasy, as he never went to that city. Still, he managed to produce a quite realistic representation of Venice with minute details regarding buildings.
