The £ 350,000 high estimate was smashed for this recently discovered picture produced by this painter who founded the Venitian school of view paintings to which Canaletto, Marieschi and Guardi belonged during the 18 th century. The picture was quite spectacular in size and also in quality and went to a private buyer who also bought another Carlevarijs, a Sea Battle of similar size, for an incredible £ 1,4 million (2 050 000 US $).
