The turning point in the history of Art Deco was the Paris Art Deco exhibition in 1925 which should have in fact taken place years earlier had Europe not been forced to overcome the effects of the war which had left deep scars in many countries.

The exhibition was a great success despite the uncertainties resulting from a deep economic crisis which was to plunge the world into an incredible turmoil. However, a new decorative style was about to bloom and to develop rapidly thanks to new links established between the old continent and America. It is a fact that the United States were much in advance regarding architecture, especially in the giant cities of New-York and Chicago where Art Deco imposed itself naturally whereas Europe had to undergo some kind of revolution to get rid of conventional styles.
