Néret-Minet group, Drouot-Paris. An impressive bid for this work, which only carried a top pre-sale estimate of 400,000 FF. It however had a prestigious provenance (former collections of Jacques Doucet and François Coty) and had notably been exhibited at the Georges Petit gallery in 1908. In addition, this much realistic study for the Joseph de Laborde family portrait produced in 1765, was of great quality. A London dealer bidding against the Metropolitan Museum of New York acquired it.
