Drouot-Paris. This clock was a remarkable piece ahead of others of that time. Henry Sully was a British clock-maker who settled in Versailles and was a pioneer in the production of marine chronometers. He died in 1728 but his friend Julien Leroy perfected his researches. Such piece was rather unique and in good condition to justify the present bid. Repeating and alarm Coach watch by J. Lehecq in Orleans, French, circa 1650: 260 000 FF (US $ 43,300), Drouot-Paris, December 8th 1997. Lehecq was a clock-maker appointed by the Duke of Orleans, brother of King Louis XIV. This rare clock was in good working condition.
