It was under the Ming dynasty during the 14th Century that the production of tea increased considerably while customs changed with the use of boilers instead of bottles while teapots became much important in the preparation of the beverage. Chinese tea and porcelain pieces were imported in Europe at the turn of the 17th Century. This teapot dates from the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1661-1722) while new porcelain forms were created in China to satisfy European buyers. Tea became much popular in France at the turn of the 18th Century.
