Lombrail group, Drouot-Paris. A very strong bid for a large size gouache and watercolour work by Galien-Laloue who was a great specialist of Parisian scenes. This artist produced hundreds of such views in many areas of Paris between 1870 and 1940 and was so prolific that he felt necessary to sign his works under other names such Liévin, Louis Dupuy or Galiany in order to avoid seeing his prices crumbling on the market. Much famous during his lifetime he used to sell his works to American or British amateurs who particularly loved his realistic depictions of Paris painted with rare skill. Usually his gouaches are rated between $ 15,000 and 40,000 for formats not exceeding 50 x 40 cm.
