A record price for Laugé whose average rate is in the region of $ 18,000 for 65 x 50 cm formats. A final bid of between 300 000 and 500 000 FF was expected for this painting executed in the divisionist style, with small dots of colours, despite the fact that Laugé never frequented Seurat, nor Signac, Cross, Van Rysselberghe and the other painters of the post-Impressionist movement. Laugé only worked during eight years in Paris between 1881 and 1888 and spent most of his life near Cailhau. His best works were produced there between 1890 and 1905. There is some strange similarity between some of Laugé's works and those by Seurat.
