DÜRER'S RARE PRINTS FETCH HIGH PRICES AT CHRISTIE'S

Christie's met success in New York on January 29, 2013 with its sale of rare prints by Renaissance German artist Albrech Dürer, the best bid being reached by "The Rhinoceros", a 1515 woodcut (23,5 x 29,8 cm) which culminated at 866,500 USD (buyer's premium included) against a high estimate of 150, 000 USD.

Other good results were recorded for Dürer's woodcut "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse"sold at 290,500 USD, "The Bathouse" woodcut, circa 1496, which fetched 182,500 USD, "The Dream of the Doctor" engraving (18,7 x 11,8 cm), circa 1498, which went for 206,500 USD, "The Seamonster" engraving, circa 1498, sold for 110,500 USD against a high estimate of 60,000, "Coat of arms with a skull", an engraving of 1503, which found a buyer for 338,500 USD, "Adam and Eve", a 1504 engraving, which culminated at 662,500 USD, "Saint Eustace", a 35,7 x 26 cm engraving, circa 1501, hammered at 722,500 USD, "Melencolia", a 1514 engraving, sold at 530,500 USD, "Saint Jerome in his study", a 1514 engraving, which reached 362,500 USD, "Saint Anthony reading", a 9,9 x 14,3 cm engraving, which fetched 386,500 USD against a high estimate of 150,000 and "Erasmus von Rotterdam", a 1526 engraving measuring 24,9 x 19,3 cm, which went for 146,500 USD
