16 October 2014
Catégorie : MARKET

Some promising young artists whose works highlighted the Frieze fair attracted many buyers during a sale held by Phillips at their new London headquarters in Berkeley Square on October 15, 2014.

For instance, Sideways, a geometric cut-out construction of raw canvases realised in 2012 by young American artist Wyatt Kahn, a newcomer in the auction world, established a record of £122,500 against a £60,000–80,000 estimate.

A large, undulating copper sculpture, We The People (detail) (2011), a piece of the Vietnamese artist Danh Vō artist's 250-segmentation of the Statue of Liberty sold for a record £ 206,500 against a £100,000–150,000 estimate.

A record £1,142,500 million was also paid  for a monumental painting by Tauba Auerbach from her Fold series of paintings of crumpled paper against a low estimate of £800,000
