Sale held by Christie's in Zurich on May 5, 2015 realized Sfr 8,548,680 ($
9,489,035) with a work titled "Femme"
(3e Recherche) by Le Corbusier (1887-1965) which fetched a World record price
of Sfr 3,120,000 (inclusive of costs) against a pre-sale high estimate of
600,000.
62 lots out of 84 offered for sale found buyers while
two other World records were established, for Daniel Spoerri's
"Herdöpfelschälerli, 1963-1979" and Hans Rudolf Giger's "Passage
XXV, 1972" which fetched respectively Sfr 156,000 (estimate 60,000-80,000) and Sfr
120,000 (estimate 20,000-25,000)
Felix Vallotton's "La Seine Bordée de Saules, Tournedos" (1922) sold for Sfr 840,000 while his "Rade de Ploumanach" (1917) went for Sfr 672,000.
Another Vallotton titled "Chemin avec fillette portant un panier" (1911) sold for Sfr 576,000 while Augusto Giacometti's " Der Astronom" (1932) fetched Sfr 420,000.
Vallotton's "Un Chemin à Cagnes" (1922) was hammered at Sfr 384,000 while Giovanni Giacometti's "Piz Lagrey" (Circa 1918) went for Sfr 336,000. 64 lots out of 82 were sold mostly within their estimates.
