Wehrlin Robert
(1903-1964) Nationality: Swiss Activity: Painter and engraver Average rate: Between $ 2000 and 4.000 Wehrlin first studied to become a lawyer before meeting Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in Davos around 1924. he settled in Paris the following year and worked in an Expressionist manner producing landscapes, portraits, nudes, still lifes and mural paintings.
Wehrlin studied with Andr Lhote and exhibited his works in Paris from 1925 and then in Switzerland.
After befriending the Giacometti brothers and Germaine Richier who was his witness at his marriage in 1938, he met Jacques Villon during World War Two and took part in many exhibitions until his death.
Wehrlin turned to abstraction and produced several monumental works, notably in Winterthur, Veltsheim, Schieren, Wulfingen and Bern. he also took part in exhibitions in Poland, Switzerland and in the U.S.
