Ben-Zion, Ben Zion Weinman Naissance - mort : Ben-Zion studied in Vienna and settled in the U.S in 1920. Working as an amateur painter until 1933, he became an American citizen in 1936. This self-taught artist stopped writing in Hebrew with the rise of Nazism feeling that the language and his work was a scream that no one heard. He was a close friend of Mark Rothko with whom he founded the group “The Ten” in 1935 in New York. He exhaled his love for the Bible and biblical themes and also worked as a sculptor.
