Yakoulov or Yakulov, Gueorgui Bogdanovitch Naissance - mort : 1884-1928 Nationalité : Georgian
Yakoulov studied at the Moscow Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture between 1900 and 1902 in Moscow and took part in some avant-garde exhibitions there from 1907 after showing a keen interest in Chinese art. He then visited Italy in 1910 and Paris, where he befriended Robert Delaunay. Back in Russia in 1914, Yakoulov taught at the Vkhutemas in Moscow in 1918. He exhibited Constructivist paintings in Berlin and in Paris during the 1920s and made many experiments on colours and light. Yakoulov also worked as a theatre decorator, notably for the Jewish Habima Theatre and for the Diaghilev Russian Ballets.
Yakovlev, Vladimir Igorevich Naissance - mort : 1934- Nationalité : Russian
Yakovlev studied to a be a professional photograph retoucher but was hampered by a serious eye disease. From his childhood, he tried to work in gouache and watercolor and became seriously involved in painting when he saw Western works in 1957 at the Festival of Youth in Moscow. The same year Yakolev created his first abstract work and shortly thereafter he turned to painting portraits and flowers. He had a solo exhibition in 1962 in Moscow and exhibited with Shteinberg at the Dostoyevsky Museum in 1963 and at MOSSKH in 1968. Since 1970, Yakovlev participated in various exhibitions in Russia and abroad, including a solo show at the Tel Aviv Museum in 1972. Although he has not painted during the last decade, Yakovlev's works have been included in various group exhibitions.

Yanive, Claire Naissance - mort : 20th Century Nationalité : Iraqi then Israeli
After settling down in 1928 in Palestine, Claire Yanive studied painting under Yitzhak Frenkel between 1939 and 1941 and then under Stematsky and Streichman in Tel Aviv up to the War of Independence. She was among the founders of the Ein-Hod Artists village and of the group of Ten. Yanive took part in many exhibitions in Israel.
Yankel (Kikoine), Jacob called Jacques Yankel Naissance - mort : 1920- Nationalité : French
Son of Michel Kiko‹ne, he briefly studied painting in 1938 in Paris before seeking refuge in Toulouse, where he studied geology during the Second World War. He seriously devoted himself to painting in 1950 and took part from 1952 in several exhibitions in Paris and abroad, notably in Tel Aviv in 1966. Influenced by Gruber, Lorjou and Buffet, he produced works that moved from pure Expressionism to Abstract Expressionism in the early 1960s. Yankel painted a few Jewish scenes during his career.
Yankilevsky, Vladimir Naissance - mort : 1938- Nationalité : Russian
Yankilevsky first studied art with his father before he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Graphic Arts in 1962, the year he took part in his first exhibition with the Belyutin Studio Group. Yankilevsky became a member of the Sretensky Boulevard group, which included Kabakov, Bulatov, Pivovarov and Shteinberg but his work was criticised by Soviet leader Nikita KhrushcHev. Widely included in exhibitions in Western Europe from the mid 1970s through the 1990s, he had begun producing triptychs in the early 1960s to express human being's place in the cosmos in a derisive way. Yankilevsky has had solo exhibitions in 1988 in Bochum, a German town where he settled, the Dina Vierny Gallery in 1990, the Paris Art Center and the Centre d'Art Contemporain in 1991 and 1994.

Yardeni studied art in Buenos Aires before settling in Israel in 1952. He completed his studies with Yehiel Shemi and at the Saint Martin School of Art of London between 1960 and 1963. He became Henry Moore's personal assistant until 1965 before teaching at the Saint Martin School and in Kent until 1970. Yardeni then taught in Oranim and at the Center of Visual Arts of Beersheva and also studied with Dov Feigin. He exhibited his works in London and in Israel.
