PASCIN: A MASTER OF THE SCHOOL OF PARIS

Julius Pinkas Pascin (1885-1930) was born in Bulgaria and studied art at a young age.

He arrived in Paris in 1905 after stays in Vienna, Munich and Berlin where he worked as an illustrator for several newspapers, notably «Simplicissimus» and «Lustige Blätter». Dressed as a dandy, he became a notorious figure in Montparnasse and Montmartre.

It was after a trip to the U.S during the First World War that he produced numerous paintings, including many attractive nudes, over a period of 10 years.

Pascin worked and traveled intensely and finally committed suicide in his Paris studio. Considered as an important artist of the School of Paris Pascin is now rated between US $ 45,000 and 140,000.
