YANEZ : A PAINTER INFLUENCED BY LEONARDO DA VINCI

Ferrando or Ferdinando Yanez called Ferrando de Almedina was born in Almedina, in Spain, around 1485.

He was the assistant of Hernando de Llanos during several years between 1506 and 1509 producing religious works expressing the influence of Leonardo da Vinci in the cathedral of Valencia.

He reportedly went to Florence around 1505 and was considered as a great master in Spain some twenty five years later. He also worked in the cathedral of la Cuenca producing a Nativity, a Pope, a Bishop, two Prophets, two Martyred Saints, Saint Peter, Saint John the Baptist, Saint John the Evangelist, the Resurrection and the portrait of a Donor, probably Don Gomez Carillo dAlbornos, the treasurer of the cathedral.
