RECORD PRICE FOR U.S PHOTOGRAPHY
01 October 1999

A 1927 photography by Charles Sheeler showing the Ford car factory in Detroit fetched a world record price of US $ 607,500 at Sotheby's New York on October 6th 1999.
During the same sale a view of New York by Alfred Stieglitz went for US $ 420,500.
