Thomas, Pierre, Jean-François and Christophe André Hache were the members of a famous dynasty of furniture makers during the 18th Century.
Originating from the Alpine town of Grenoble they all met success and fame during their lifetime. Thomas settled there at the end of the 17th Century. He was followed by his son Pierre and his grand-sons who worked until the beginning of the 19th Century.
After that the dynasty became extinct. It had played a major role in France over a century and today the many pieces of marquetry furniture it produced are much in demand. The Musée Dauphinois in Grenoble has been holding an exhibition of the Hache's most remarkable achievements which is to end on August 31st 1998.
