Jerome Bosch's masterpiece, «The Garden of Delights» has returned to the Prado Museum in Madrid at the end of September 1999 after extensive restoration works which lasted two years. Restorers fixed the painting which was quite fragile and took off heavy layers of varnish blurred by oxidation giving it back its exquisite and fresh original colours.
The Prado possesses the most important collection of works by Bosch, a Flemish master whom King Philip II of Spain much admired during the second half of the 16th Century.
