DELUBAC SALE : A SUCCESS
01 March 1998


The sale of part of the collection of Jacqueline Delubac, an actress who was at one time the wife of writer and
film-maker Sacha Guitry, met success at Drouot-Montaigne on March 16th 1998.
A pair of two 18th Century Chinese blue porcelain vases with bronze mountings fetched 3,436,000 FF inclusive of
buyer premium (US $ 565,000) while a 1908 100 x 81 cm painting by Dutch artist Kees van Dongen representing a
naked maid on a bed sold for 8,3 million francs inclusive of buyer premium (US $ 1,362,000). A painting by Georges
Rouault, titled "Fathma" went for 2,5 millions francs
(US $ 418,000), five times above the pre-sale estimate.
All lots were sold for a total of 30 millions francs (almost US $ 5 million)
