A painting by François-Pierre- Bernard Barry (1813-1905) showing the arrival by sea of Sultan Abd-ul-Aziz at the palace of the Khedive at Ras el Tyn fetched a world record price for the artist of 790,000 FF (US $ 131, 700) on June 3rd 1998 at Drouot, Paris. The painting, measuring 94 x 104 cm, was painted around 1863. Barry's paintings are usually sold between $ 8,000 and 15,000.
