The eighth Paris Salon of Drawings opened on April 7th 1999 in the Salons Hoche with 25 exhibitors from France and Britain mainly.
Drawings have sold well during the past months in Paris and visitors at the Salon discovered some good pieces signed by Jacques Villon, Louis Léopold Boilly, Pierre Puvis de Chavanne, Simon Vouet, Gian Battista Tiepolo, Odilon Redon, Claude Hoin, Raphael Mengs, Jacopo Ligozzi, Wilhelm Schadow, Degas or Honoré Daumier.
Many drawings, notably by Daumier, Gleizes, Jean-Baptiste Greuze or Henri Gervex were sold on the opening day but overall there was a lack of extraordinary pieces des pite the presence of well-known exhibitors such as de Bayser, Agnew's, Brame & Lorenceau, Didier Aaron, Baroni, Trinity Fine Art or David Jones.
