A majority of Britons would accept the surrendering of the Parthenon marble sculptures to Greece, according to a survey carried out in . Some 39% were in favour of meeting Greece's demand while 46% had no opinion.
Observers in Britain said the sculptures were better protected in the British Museum though they suffered some damages as a result of cleaning some 60 years ago.
Finding their original place in Athens these might rapidly deteriorate as a result of the heavy pollution plaguing this city.
