Jacques Tajan, one of the top auctionneers in Paris was again charged by an investigating judge regarding his role in the controversial sale of a Giacometti sculpture in July 1994. Mr Tajan was already charged for having falsified his record books after selling this sculpture (lot Number 6 in this sale) privately to the Nahmad brothers from London whereas bids had gone up to 1,8 million (almost US $ 300,000) during the sale.
This time, the auctioneer was charged for trying to bribe a witness and for breach of trust after the Nahmad brothers testified against him.
