NEW SALESROOM IN PARIS
01 July 2000

The Alice company has decided to open a new salesroom in the Hotel d'Evreux, place Vendôme in Paris, next fall.

Francis Simon, founder of that company and a former Director-General of Sotheby's France, said Alice would sell 19th and 20th art works twice a year in New York under the auspices of Alice USA and in Paris with a sale scheduled on October 26th 2000 if the French reform of the auction profession is finalised.

The first sale in New York will take place on November 14th in Manhattan, in the Harold Pratt House near Park Avenue.

Alice will impose attractive commissions on sellers (5% up to $ 500,000 and 2,5 % between $ 500,000 and 1 million) and on buyers (10%). It will however have to resist the challenge of important auction houses such as Sotheby's, Christie's or Phillips in the field it has chosen.
