Russian painter, illustrator and creator of masks Rotislav Doboujinsky died in Paris on June 23rd 2000 at 97. He was the son of Rotislav Doboujinsky, a theatre decorator who founded the World of Art movement with Alexander Benois and Serge Diaghilev. The Doboujinsky family fled to Lituania in 1924 before Rotislav decided to settle in France, where he worked as a decorator for many theatres and opera houses. Much inventive, he also produced extraordinary masks for plays and movies and met international success.
