A biscuit, part of a pack offered by Sir Ernest Shackleton to an explorer who had got lost in the South Pole, fetched £ 4 935 (US $ 7,925) at auction on April 18th in London. Frank Wild, the man saved by Sir Ernest, who was heading a British expedition to the South Pole at the turn of the 20th Century, wrote in his diary that thousands of pounds would not have been sufficient for such a gift (the pack of biscuits), which he would never forget.
Now the question remains whether this biscuit represents a good saving for its buyer.
