diameter 21 1/2 in. 54.5 cm, applied at the center with a gilded silver Romanov griffin holding a "jeweled" shield, the silver border also "jeweled" and applied with enameled portrait plaques painted with sixteen Romanov rulers, the interior silver circle engraved with a presentation inscription, "To the Heir and Grand Duke Alexis Nicholaevich, a gift of work from the artist of the Imperial Maly Theater, Vladimir Feodorovich Sashin," and with the dates 1613-1913, maker's mark H.C. unidentified.
