Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is pleased to present until June 16th 2002 the exhibition Moderna Museet c/o Magasin 3, with works by 29 artists from Moderna Museet's permanent collection.
The exhibition shows mainly sculpture, focusing on abstract pieces, with the emphasis on a number of rather less well-known works from the Moderna Museet collection.
With the starting-point in early abstract works of the 1910s, the exhibition follows art from different periods to the end of the 1990s. Associations between the works have been the point of departure for the installation, and the chronology of the exhibition has been broken to allow for new experiences for the viewer.
Artists included in the exhibition: Olle Bonniér, Lee Bontecou, Robert Breer, Viking Eggeling, Lars Englund, Max Ernst, Annika Eriksson, Lucio Fontana, Eric Grate, Gary Hill, Arne Jones, Louise Lawler, Sivert Lindblom, LG Lundberg, Carl Axel Lunding, Ebba Matz, Lars Millhagen, Louise Nevelson, KG Nilson, Claes Oldenburg, Palle Pernevi, Francis Picabia, Man Ray, Ulf Rollof, Jésus Rafael Soto, Georges Vantongerloo, Victor Vasarely, Ruth Vollmer, Nell Walden.
Robert Breer's sculpture "Rider Float" (1972), Georges Vantongerloo's "Cosmic Element" (1945) and Annika Eriksson's "Twelve Parcels from my Mother" (1993-95) are some examples of the works exhibited.
Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall is the first institution to make a selection from the permanent collection of Moderna Museet while the museum building on Skeppsholmen is closed. The series Moderna Museet c/o will continue with exhibitions at art institutions throughout Sweden, showing works from the museum collection.
The exhibition is curated by David Neuman, director, and Richard Julin, curator, Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall.
