SOTHEBY'S SALE OF IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART
08 October 2008
Category : MARKET
Held in New York on October 7, 2008, Sotheby's sale of Impressionist and Modern Art including Latin American and Russian Art Sale totalled 6,435,938 USD, a relatively good score in view of the major financial crisis which shook the U.S and Europe during the past three weeks.

Most lots were sold just above the low estimates, a fact that was quite acceptable for sellers who feared some kind of disaster in view of the situation on the financial markets. Still, there were some reasons to express worry as a result of a major economic slow-down in the U.S and abroad.
