CHRISTIE'S ACHIEVES 5,88 MILLION EUROS FOR ITS PARIS POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY SALE
30 June 2020
Category : MARKET

The Post-War and Contemporary art sale held at Christie's on 30 June achieved a total of €5,881,250 selling 85% by value.

The top lot of the sale was a painting by Robert Raushenberg Gallery (Salvage) which sold for €610,000, six times its presale low estimate. An additional auction highlight was the work by Anish Kapoor which sold for €538,000 and a painting by Pierre Soulages from its Outrenoire series, Peinture 35 x 55 cm, 29 mai 1987 which  fetched €502,000.

Despite the complex current situation, Christie's was satisfied with the results achieved. In addition to the three top lots, there was the strong price obtained for Victor Vasarely's painting, Chillan, which sold for €442,000 against a presale estimate of €120,000-180,000 while a nice surprise was recorded with the sale of Chu Teh-Chun's 15 jan.1978 which sold for €430,000 against a presale estimate of €150,000-200,000 and for the painting of Elizabeth Peyton, Liam, which realised €137,500.
