99.9 MILLION USD FOR PHILLIPS CONTEMPORARY ART SALE

Phillips's Contemporary art sale held in New York on May 15 totaled 100 million USD with Kaws's seven foot wide The Walk Home (2012) featuring SpongeBob SquarePants fetching almost 6 million with fees against a high estimate of $800,000.

a Willem de Kooning abstraction, Untitled XVI (1976) sold for $10.3 million with fees while  Japanese artist Tomoo Gokita's  black-and-white 2015 painting Just Like Family sold for $1 million against a high estimate of $350,000) and Swiss artist Nicolas Party's candy-colored landscape fetched $608,000, quadrupling its high estimate

Dana Schutz's 2009 dinner-table scene fetched $980,000, nearly quadrupling its low estimate, Roy Lichtenstein's painting Horse and Rider (1976), sold for $5.95 million and a 1967 untitled work by Eva Hesse was hammered at just under $4 million, exceeding its $3.5 million high estimate.

Basquiat's 1983 Self-Portrait sold for  $9.5 million, just above its low estimate of $9 million.while Bradford's Helter Skelter II (2007) (36 feet wide and 12 feet high), created for an exhibition at New York's New Museum.fetched $8.5 million with fees.
