OPENING OF THE ALBERTINA MUSEUM IN TURIN
01 September 1997

The exhibition rooms of the Albertina Academy in Turin are now opened to the public following installation works. The Albertina Academy for painters was founded at the beginning of the 17th Century and prides itself of a remarkable collection of paintings from the 15th to the 19th Century, notably by Filippo Lippi, Mattia Preti, Bartolomeus Breenberg, Jacob Jordaens, Francesco Trevisani and Fontebasso among others. The paintings, mostly donated by Archbishop Vincenzo Maria Masi di Morano between 1825 and 1830 and by Charles-Albert, King of Piemont-Sardinia in 1832, will be shown in 12 rooms after the Academy's buildings were restructured.
