RECORD PRICE FOR BOOK OF HOURS

A 1505 Book of Hours produced in Bruges by some of the greatest Flemish artists of that time was sold for a record £ 7,8 millions (US $ 12,187,500) by Christie's on July 7th 1999 in London. Thye book came from the collection of the Austrian branch of the Rothschild family, which had been seized by the nazis before the Second World War in Vienna. The collection was handed back by Austrian authorities a few months ago.
