MONET'S NYMPHEAS FETCHS RECORD PRICE
01 November 1999


A painting from the nympheas series by French Impressionist painter Claude Monet sold for US $ 22,552 million on November 8th 1999 at Christie's in New York.
Van Gogh's «Pont de Trinquetaille» from the Akram Ojjeh collection fetched US $ 15,4 million against a US $ 20 million estimate. A rare sculpture by Auguste Rodin, titled «Eve» fetched a record price of US $ 4,8 million. Christie's sold 90% of the 53 lots of their catalogue for a total sum of US $ 88,2 million against a global estimate of US $ 100 million.
