Niobe Xando, born in 1916 in Campos Novos de Paranapanema, Brazil, spent her youth in the countryside and only started to paint in 1950 producing lively scenes in a naive style. She was notably interested in reproducing tropical nature, notably flowers reminiscent of Colombian decorative paintings. She expressed the invasion of nature by constructions of our industrial world and took part in many exhibitions in Sao Paulo, Bahia and Paris.
