STRONG RESULTS FOR IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN WORKS SOLD AT CHRISTIE'S ON NOVEMBER 3, 2010 The market for blue-chip works and premiere private collections proved strong at Christie's New York Evening Sale of Impressionist and Modern Art
on November 3, 2010. The highly anticipated 84-lot sale, dense with
works by the great masters of the Impressionist and Modern periods,
included top selling works by Henri Matisse, Juan Gris, Joan Miró and
Fernand Léger, among others. The sale realized $231,439,500
(£143,492,490/€164,322,045) and was 80% sold by lot and 88% sold by

artwork by modernist master Marc Chagall became the most expensive contemporary
Western painting sold in Asia when it was auctioned on Oct 4, 2010 for $US4.18
million ($4.3 million) at a Hong Kong sale. Link

May 11, 2010 saw Jasper Johns' Flag, 1960-1966 breaking the world
record for the artist selling at $28,642,500.

A NEW WORLD RECORD FOR PICASSO On
a night that saw a new world record for the most expensive artwork sold
at
auction, Christie's
May 4, 2010 Impressionist and Modern Art Evening Sale achieved a
total
of $335,548,000 (£221,461,680/Є258,317,960). The evening was
highlighted by the runaway success of Pablo Picasso's Nude, Green
Leaves and
Bust from the Collection of Mrs. Sidney F. Brody, which sold for a
record $106,482,500
(£70,278,450/€81,991,525), breaking the previous world record for any
work of
art sold at auction. The Evening Sale portion of the Brody Collection
also
became the highest total for a singleowner sale offered at Christies New
York,
surpassing the landmark sale of the Collection of Victor and Sally Ganz
sale in

CHRISTIE'S APRIL 14 and 15 SALE OF PHOTOGRAPHS IN NEW YORK hree important auctions
of photographs held at Christie's New York on April 14 and 15, 2010 ,
including two significant single-owner sales with dedicated individual
catalogues, Three Decades with Irving Penn: Photographs from the
Collection of Patricia McCabe and Selections From The Baio Collection
of Photography as well as the various-owner Photographs sale totaled an
impressive $9,298,875.
