SPATE OF WORLD RECORDS AT CHRISTIE'S SALE OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN NEW YORK
Christie's recorded a quite impressive series of 14 new world records at its May 8, 2012 sale of Post-War and Contemporary evening sale in New York, notably regarding works by Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollock, Gerhard Richter, Yves Klein and Alexander Calder.  The sale totalled 388.5  million USD  (£240.9 million/  €299.1 million), marking  the  highest total ever  in auction

CHRISTIE'S SPRING AUCTIONS OF IMPRESSIONIST AND MODERN ART ACHIEVE 150,7 MILLION USD

Christie's Impressionist and Modern Art Day and Works on Paper sales held in New York on May 2, 2012 achieved $33,655,375 (£20,866,333/EUR25,578,085) with 83% of lots sold .

This sale crowned Christie's auctions of the week which saw Henri Matiss'es Fauvist still life “Les Pivoines” (The Peonies) and Paul Cézanne's watercolour study of the “Card players” each reach 19,1 million USD. This brought the grand total for Christie's spring Impressionist and Modern Art sales in New York to $150,741,375 (£93,459,653/ EUR114,563,445).
