Herve Lucien, Elkan Laszlo called Herve

Nationality : Hungarian then French
Laszlo Elkan, who was a wrestling champion in Hungary, came in 1929 to France, where he became a photographer. He adopted the name of Lucien Herve after joining the French Resistance during the Second World War and became Le Corbusier's photographer after 1949.

Nationality : Polish
Heyman worked as miniature painter. He exhibited his works at the Salon des Artistes Français after studying with Cormon. He died in Algiers in May 1898.

Nationality : French
Painter. Hildebrand has been specializing in underground art.
Hireny, Hirschl Adolf
Birth - Death : 1860-1925
Nationality : Hungarian
Hireny studied painting at the Academy in Vienna and exhibited his works in Rome, Paris and Munich. Known as a painter of genre and historical scenes he was awarded the Emperor's prize in 1891.

Nationality : French
Hirsch studied painting under Bonnat and exhibited his works at the Paris Salon between 1869 and 1882. He painted a group portrait showing the children of the Camondo family.

Hosiasson, Philippe
Birth - Death : 1898-1978
Nationality : Ukrainian then French
Hosiasson took to drawing at 14 studying under his uncle Leonid Pasternak and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Odessa. He then studied art history in Rome before producing decors for Boris Romanov's Russian Ballets in 1922 in Berlin. Hosiasson came in 1924 to Paris, where he worked as a decorator and exhibited his works in various Parisian Salons and galleries. After taking French nationality in 1928 he joined the “New Humanist” group along with Leon Zack in 1930. Drafted in the French Army in 1939 he was seriously wounded in combat near Dunkirk in 1940 and spent the duration of the war in hiding in southern France. He started to paint informal works in 1947 and exhibited along with Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko and Kenneth Noland at the Kootz Gallery in 1959 in New York. Hosiasson once said that he considered abstraction as a way to express his idea of the world and Judaism.
