Kantor, Morris

Morris Kantor studied painting with Homer Boss and was deeply impressed by Rousseau and Chirico while in Paris in 1927. He depicted the city life in New York and scenes from New England in a very personalized style. During his youth, Morris Kantor worked as a designer of textile motifs to earn a living.

Tadeusz Kantor lived and worked in Cracow. He founded the “Modern Artists Club” in 1947 and organized the first modern art exhibition in Cracow the following year. Tadeusz Kantor was a specialist of happenings and took part in many exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Working as an abstract artist, Kantor was also an active dissident and took part in several clandestine shows and plays. He also produced Surrealist drawings and collages.

She then devoted herself to painting after marrying Serge Karsky, a French painter and received the advice of Pascin, their mutual friend. She sought refuge in the Dordogne region during World War Two. Karskaya swerved to abstraction after the war and exhibited several times in Paris.

Kassak fled from his home at 13 and worked as an apprentice to a locksmith before collaborating with a left-wing periodical.
