Efrat, Beni

Nationality : Lebanese then Israeli
Painter and sculptor. Efrat settled in Palestine in 1947 and studied art with Streichman at the Avni Institute in Tel Aviv. In 1964, he went to work in Europe and lived in London between 1966 and 1976. Efrat has also created geometric sculptures.

Ehrlich, Georg
Birth - Death : 1897-1966
Nationality : Austrian then British
Painter. Ehrlich studied art and architecture in Vienna before going in 1921 to Berlin, where he later worked as a sculptor and befriended Kokoschka and E. Barlach. He exhibited his works in Paris in 1926 and took part in the Venice Biennale in 1934 and 1936. Ehrlich sought refuge in London in 1939 and took part in an exhibition in New York in 1947. One of his works was acquired by the Museum of Tel Aviv.

Eibisch, Ebiche (Narth) Eugeniusz
Birth - Death : 1896-1987
Nationality : Polish
Eibisch studied painting in Cracow from 1912 and then exhibited his works there after 1920. He settled in 1922 in Paris, where he befriended Soutine, Mane-Katz, Hayden and Zak and met success at the 1925 Salon d'Automne. Under contract with Zborowski, a well -known Polish dealer, Eibisch took part in various exhibitions in Paris until his return in 1939 to Poland, where he lived under a false name during World War Two. Eibisch taught art in Cracow until his appointment as professor at the Warsaw Academy in 1950.

Painter. Eilon went to Israel where he studied under Marcel Janco at the Oranim Kibbutz in Kiriat-Tivon near Haifa. Working as a representative of the World Zionist Organization Eilon traveled the world over and exhibited his abstract works in many foreign cities.
Eilshemius, Louis Michel George
Birth - Death : 1864-1941
Nationality : American
Eilshemius studied painting at the Art Students League in New York in 1884 and came in 1886 to Paris, where he pursued his studies under William Bouguereau. In 1908, after meeting the post romantic painter Albert Pinkham Ryder whose works impressed him much, he traveled extensively around the world and painted many scenes in the Samoa Islands. Eilshemius then painted dreamlike scenes, which were however ignored by the public, and showed his paintings at the Salon des Independants in 1917 in Paris. Though his works were praised by Marcel Duchamp he decided to interrupt his career in 1920. At the start Eilshemius painted scenes in a style reminiscent of that of Winslow Homer before producing strong expressionistic visionary works under the influence of Ryder. One of his exemplary paintings titled The Flying Dutchman\" showed a ship facing menacing waves in a terrible storm shadowed by her replica. Eilshemius then painted naked women floating in space in his seascapes, as well as tragic and nightmarish scenes. "
