THE EBSWORTH COLLECTION TO BE SOLD BY CHRISTIE'S
Nearly 90 works from the Ebsworth collection of modern American masters with rarely seen paintings by Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keeffe and Jackson Pollock, will be auctioned in November at Christie's in New York. The works collected over several decades by Barney A.Ebsworth, a pioneer in the luxury travel industry who died in April age 83, have been estimated at 300 million USD.
CHRISTIE'S JULY CLASSIC WEEK TOTALS OVER 72 MILLION GBP
Comprising a total of 14 live auctions and online sales, with works of art dating from antiquity to the 20th century, Christie's London Classic Week sales in July 2018 collectively realized £72,376,000. The top lot of the series was a gift from Louis XIV to his son, the Grand Dauphin, Hercules Overcoming Acheloüs, circa 1640-50 by Florentine sculptor Ferdinando Tacca (1619-1686). The bronze sold in The Exceptional Sale 2018 for £6,758,750, setting a new world record price for the artist at auction.
SALES HELD IN LONDON TOTALED 77.7 MILLION GBP
The sales conducted by Sotheby's in London during the first week of July 2018 totaled of £77.7 million, with strong results for Old Master and British paintings and drawings, decorative arts, sculptures and antiquities
SOTHEBY'S SALE OF OLD MASTERS TOTALS 42.6 MILLION GBP
Sotheby's sale of Old Masters held on July 5 2018 in London achieved 42.6 million GBP compared with a high pre-sale estimate of 47.7 million compared to last year's result of 52.5 million with some strong results after attracting new buyers from Asia and Latin America.
