SOTHEBY'S sale of Impressionist & Modern art held in New York on November 15, 2016 brought $ 38.8 million  led by the phenomenal 

results for a selection of bronze sculptures by Diego Giacometti, which together sold for $6.8 million.

MUNCH'S PAINTING PROPELS SOTHEBY'S IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART SALE
Edvard Munch's stunning Pikene på broen (Girls on the Bridge) from 1902 brought $54.5 million, making it the second-highest auction price for any work by the artist after The Scream and helping propel Sotheby's  Impressionist & Modern Art Evening sale total to $157.7 million on November 14 2016 in New York.

SOTHEBY'S FRIEZE WEEK SALE TOTALLED OVER 83 MILLIONS GBP
Sotheby's Frieze week sale series totalled £83.5 million, exceeding its top estimate. The Contemporary Art Evening Auction alone realised £48 million, the highest amount ever achieved during Frieze week. The sale was led by two works by Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat, which both went over £10 million.

CHRISTIE'S SALES FELL BY 33% DURING THE FIRST HALF YEAR OF 2016
Christie's global sales during the first half of 2016 totaled 3 billion USD, a 33% drop in US dollar terms compared with the same period in 2015 when sales amounted to 4,5 billion.
